Basic and translational science

Within the ADREU laboratories a range of basic and translational science projects are being carried out. Our current work includes:

  • Determining genotypic markers of antibiotic resistance in new strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Mycoplasma genitalium
  • Understanding the microbiome in men and women with and without sexually transmitted infections
  • The use of novel sequencing technologies for diagnosis, and antibiotic resistance prediction
  • Developing antibiotic resistance predictor point-of-care tests in sexual health
  • Understanding the prevalence of antibiotic resistance in vulnerable populations globally.
